Why we work
this way.
Signature Finish Group started with one tradesman who kept walking into expensive houses and finding cheap paintwork.
It is a strange thing to keep seeing. A house worth what these houses are worth, and a finish rushed to hit a price — lines that wander off the architrave, a second coat asked to do the work of a third, timber sealed before it was ever properly dry. The products are rarely the problem. The hours are.
So the studio was built the other way around. The crew is small and directly employed rather than subcontracted, we take on a small number of projects at a time rather than filling a calendar, and we quote on what the house actually needs rather than on what will win the work. It makes us dearer than the second cheapest quote and considerably cheaper than doing it twice.
We are still a small crew, and we intend to grow — carefully, and without losing the part that matters. The measure has not changed since the first job: the house should be worth more when we leave it than when we arrived.

The people who quote are the people who paint
Directly employed tradespeople, not a rotating pool of subcontractors. You meet them at the quote and you see them on site. Nothing is lost in the handover, because there isn’t one.

A fixed figure, in writing
Our quote names the products, the coats and the sequence. If something opens up once we strip it back, we stop, show you, and price it before touching anything — never after.

Your home stays a home
Protected floors, sealed work areas, low-VOC products, and a site swept clean at the end of every day. You should be able to cook dinner in a house we are halfway through painting.
In the detail
Where the work shows.
A curved wall has nowhere to hide a ripple. Raking light across a soffit is the honest test of the preparation underneath it.
Where panelling meets paper, the line is cut by hand. It is slower than masking and it is the difference you notice from a metre away.
Stairwell ceilings are the ones most often skipped. Scaffolded properly, cut properly, and finished to the same standard as the wall below.

The warranty, plainly
If paint we applied peels, blisters or flakes because of how we prepared or applied it, we come back and fix it at our cost for seven years. That is the whole clause. It is on the last page of every quote, in the same size type as everything else.
